AWS Application Discovery Service

What is AWS Application Discovery Service?

The AWS Application Discovery Service (ADS) assists users in planning their migration projects by gathering information about their on-premise data centers.

Data center migration plans involve thousands of workloads, often with deep interdependencies among them. Mapping server utilization data and dependencies is a critical step early in the migration process.

The AWS Application Discovery Service collects server configuration, usage, and behavioral data and makes it available to users. This allows users to fully understand their workloads.

The collected data is stored in encrypted format in the AWS Application Discovery Service data store.

This data can be exported as a CSV file and used to estimate the total cost of ownership (TCO) of running on AWS and to plan for migration to AWS.

This data is also available on the AWS Migration Hub. This service allows you to migrate discovered servers to AWS and track their progress as they migrate to AWS.
